The curtain raiser to our highly anticipated 8-Aside Tournament kicked off with a mix of emotions, as the eight top teams in Asaba battled it out for supremacy. While the first match saw a walkover, the subsequent games delivered thrilling action, stunning goals, and heartbreak.

MSFA A vs. Paul FC B: A Thrilling Encounter
The second match of the day pitted MSFA A against Paul FC B in a clash that had everything. Paul FC B struck first when Godstime found Svyester, who slotted the ball past the MSFA A goalkeeper. However, Michael equalized for MSFA A after, assisted by Chisom. Just before halftime, Svyester scored again, leaving the keeper no chance and giving Paul FC B a 2-1 lead.

The second half saw MSFA A come out strong, with Michael scoring a stunning 28-yard rocket to level the game at 2-2. But Paul FC B's Svyester would complete his hat-trick soon after, capitalizing on a defensive lapse by MSFA A. Despite MSFA A's best efforts, Paul FC B held on for a 3-2 win.
FCE Blazzers vs. Arcade FC: A Nail-Biter
The next day, FCE Blazzers welcomed Arcade FC in a closely contested match. The first half saw both teams probing each other's defenses without scoring. The deadlock was broken in the second half when Greenwood scored for FCE Blazzers. However, Arcade FC equalized dramatically with a beautifully struck volley by Paul, leaving the score at 1-1.

De Royals vs. MSFA B: A Match That Went Awry
The final match of Match Day 1 saw De Royals host MSFA B. Ifechukwudi's stunning volley gave MSFA B an early lead, which was doubled by Ikenna just before halftime. The second half took a dark turn when De Royals players became increasingly aggressive, leading to a confrontation with the referee and MSFA B players. The situation escalated, requiring police intervention, and the match was eventually called off, with MSFA B awarded a 2-0 win and De Royals Disqualified from the Championship.
In a press conference following Match Day 1, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Uche Ikenye, shared his thoughts on the tournament's progress. "I want to congratulate all teams that won, drew, or lost. There's still much to play for, and we encourage those who lost not to lose hope."
